Family Fun at SeaWorld San Diego: Shows, Sea Life, and Sweet Memories

Adventure Dates: 07/10/2025 – 07/13/2025

This was our first time visiting SeaWorld San Diego, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable days of our trip. We spent about seven hours exploring the park, and our three-year-old daughter had the time of her life. Her favorite moment was the orca encounter show, where we sat in the splash zone and ended up getting completely soaked. She could not stop laughing and smiling at all the things that she saw around the park. The park is full of exhibits, shows, and family-friendly attractions, but we did find the food inside to be quite expensive. If you are planning a visit, I would recommend eating beforehand or bringing something to enjoy in the parking lot during a break. In this post, I am sharing a few helpful tips for families visiting SeaWorld with young children and photos of our SeaWorld adventure!

Quick Tips

  • Arrive early OR pay a premium for closer parking.
  • Wear good, comfortable shoes. You’re going to be on your feet most of the time.
  • Put on sunscreen even if it’s cloudy out! I got burnt pretty bad on my ears and nose.
  • Get some snacks for the little ones.  You’ll be doing a lot of waiting in line for rides and walking around, so they’re going to get hangry just waiting with you.
  • A stroller is a must! Rent one in the park or bring your own.  It will help when the kids get tired and to also haul around belongings.
  • For the orca and dolphin encounters, if you don’t want to get soaking wet, sit higher and away from the pool! We wanted to experience the splash zone so we sat in that zone during the orca encounter thinking we weren’t going to get THAT wet, but we got soaked.  We sat higher during the dolphin encounter to avoid getting wet and get a better view of the dolphins and pilot whales.
  • For the good seats, arrive early!
  • Have fun! Don’t rush to go do everything.  Take your time to stroll around the park.  There are plenty of places to rest.  With kids, it could get stressful so take your time and enjoy your time there.
