It’s been 23 years since I last stepped foot in Fond du Lac, WI. Throughout those years, I usually bypassed the city on the outside on my way to Oshkosh, Appleton, or Sheboygan, but never stopping in to check out the city that I once called home as a kid. Back then, my family didn’t have much in terms of wealth and income, but we had each other. Times were much simpler for us kids then. We didn’t have what most kids have nowadays with their mobile devices and video games. We ran around catching tadpoles, chipmunks, and toads. We pretended to be Power Rangers or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We played until dusk or whenever our parents would come get us. Going back there this past weekend felt nostalgic especially after seeing that the townhouses we lived in were still there and my old elementary school down the block hadn’t changed much. The lighthouse and Lakeside Park that my parents used to take us to during the summers hasn’t changed all that much. The swing sets and soccer fields that my dad used to place soccer with his friends are still there. I may have to go back one of these days during the summer to go fishing. Hopefully this time around, I remember my tackle bag. Check out the below gallery for images!
