Independence Day at Lake Prior, MN

Trip Date: June 30th – July 4th, 2017

Independence Day a.k.a. the 4th of July, a day when people day drink and light fireworks at night.  This year however, not much really happened aside from sleeping in then heading off to see some friends and hang out with them at their place by the lake.  Last year at the same time, we were hung over and already started day drinking to start off the July 4th festivities.  Fortunately this year, it was more calm and relaxing.  Boats and other watercraft were out and about on the lake, zipping back and forth, under the setting sun and warm temperatures.  My other buddy who was with me was so hung over from the night before that he slept most of the time by the lake, while I enjoyed a couple of beer and some shots with Phin and Ia.  As nightfall came, homes all around the lake started lighting the big fireworks all the while mosquitoes feasted on the warm blood of us all.  Mosquito spray? Didn’t work.  Citronella candles? Didn’t work.  I don’t think I’ve been bit as much this summer by mosquitoes until that evening, but luckily we were also leaving to come home.  Maybe next year it’ll be even more relaxing and calm, minus the mosquitoes hopefully.
