Enjoyed an early morning hike up to Makapu’u Point using the Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail. Unfortunately, the part of the trail that leads to the lighthouse was closed off. Still a great hike with wonderful views!
For the remainder of our vacation, we decided to stay at an Airbnb that went right up against Waimanalo Beach. It was finally time to start experiencing the real Hawaii!
Making our way to Waimanalo with a stop at Makapu’u Lookout. Breathtaking views of Makapu’u Beach Park, Waimanalo Beach in the distance, and a couple of islands out in the ocean waters!
Windy day as we headed off to Waimanalo as you see waves after waves crashing unto land. We decided to check things out closer so we took a short break at Sandy Beach after rounding out Koko Crater to the south.
Last stop at Tantalus Lookout before heading to the windward side of Oahu where we stayed for the rest of our vacation in Waimanalo!
While staying in Waikiki for a couple of nights, one of the places we checked out was the Waikiki Aquarium down the street from our hotel. Not as large as some of the aquariums we’ve been too but still interesting to see nonetheless especially since Hawaii has both fresh and saltwater habitats for aquatic creatures. Went here after hiking up and down Diamond Head State Monument!
