Swimming with the sharks and Kuilima Cove snorkeling in the North Shore!

Trip Date: August 14th – 24th, 2019

Amanda suggested we go swim with the sharks when we go visited Hawaii so while we were there she booked an excursion for us to go swim with the sharks in the North Shore!  We went out about 3 miles from Haleiwa Harbor where we then took turns getting into the shark cage out in the open waters.  We saw reef and sandbar sharks, and more than what we wanted to see from one participant who was sea sick the entire time.  The business we went through to do this little excursion was, Hawaii Shark Encounters (https://hawaiisharkencounters.com/).  They did a good job of getting us out there and back even when the waters were a little choppy that morning.  They were also very informative about the sharks and the area too!

Another time we visited the North Shore, we headed to Kuilima Cove to hang out on the beach and snorkel.  The cove is located next to the Turtle Bay Resort and is open to the public for beach access; but you just have to find a place to park.  While there, they were also filming a movie at the other end of the beach, but we weren’t able to find out the name of it.  The waters were a little rough so the water wasn’t as clear as we had hoped but it was still a decent area to snorkel.
