I finally upgraded my camera from the Sony A6300 to the Sony A7C II, and the Minnesota Zoo turned out to be the perfect place to try it out for the first time.
Why the upgrade?
I’ve been wanting a full-frame camera for a while. I already had a couple of Sony full-frame lenses that weren’t getting much use, and to be honest, owning a full-frame camera has always been on my wishlist. When I first got back into photography, I chose the A6300 because it was small, lightweight, and mirrorless cameras were really popular at the time. It felt like the right fit back then.
First impressions of the A7C II?
So far, I’m really enjoying it. It’s compact, which I appreciate, and even though the body is a bit larger than the A6300, it still feels familiar and easy to handle. One thing that really stood out is how well it performs in low-light situations, which came in handy throughout the zoo, especially in the dimmer indoor exhibits.
All of the photos below were taken with the Sony A7C II and the Sigma 24–70mm f/2.8 Art lens. This lens is quickly becoming my favorite for everyday shooting. It handled everything from portraits to wider scenes with ease.
